How are pets handled in a divorce?

Posted on February 25th, 2010 No Comments

While people often have close relationships with their pets, pets are treated like any other property in divorce. This means that both spouses will have to come to an agreement on which spouse will take care of their pets.

Divorce judges typically will not help create sharing arrangements for pets. For this reason, spouses should try to reach an agreement about their pets outside of court.
