The country singer Randy Travis filed for divorce this Thursday from his wife of 19 years. His wife has been his music manager since he entered the music business. Travis cited “a state of incompatibility exists between parties” as his reason for the divorce.
Elizabeth Travis, his wife, has been credited as the driving force behind getting Travis’ career off the ground. She first saw him perform in a nightclub that she and her ex-husband owned in the mid 1970’s.
She and Randy later got together and moved to Nashville in the 1980s, where they eventually secured a record deal that led to their present-day success.
The divorce petition requests an equal split of their assets.
