Child Support in the State of Texas - FAQ

Faq's

Smith & Garg, child support in Texas, Family Lawyers

If the obligor has other children for whom he is responsible to pay child support, does he received a credit or reduction?

The Texas Family Code does take such a situation into account.  For example, if the obligor is already paying child support for one child, the child support for the second child is computed at the rate of 17.50 % of the obligor’s net available resources.  The Code provides a sliding scale to compute these figures and theoretically, a person with 14 children would pay 32 % of his available net resources as child support.
