Is mediation costly?Compared to the cost of a trial or even just a hearing on temporary orders, mediation is considerably less expensive. The fees charged by mediators vary from $300.00 to $2000.00 per party for a half day session, depending on the complexity of the case, the particular mediator’s background and the resources of the parties. Typically, an effective mediator can be retained for $300.00 per party and if the session goes beyond four hours, an additional charge is made the each hour.
