What if the parties cannot afford to pay for mediation?
Most mediator charge between $150.00 and $300.00 per hour or more depending on the mediator’s background and the complexity of the issues. Many counties have Dispute Resolution Centers where the charges are based on income and seldom exceed $150.00 per party for a half day session. If one party has significantly more money than the other, the court can order that person to pay the cost of the mediation.
