How much may the court award as maintenance?The court may not award maintenance that requires the monthly payment of more that the lesser of $2500.00 or 20% of the spouse’s average monthly gross income. The amount ordered must provide for the minimum reasonable needs of the receiving spouse. The computation of average gross monthly income excludes payments for Veteran’s Administration disability compensation, social security benefits, disability benefits and worker’s compensation.
