Family Law Attorney, Family Law and Paternity Hearings

If the man is proven to be the biological father of a child, can he terminate his parental rights and avoid paying child support?

Unless there is another party willing to adopt the child and the court finds that this is in the child’s best interest, it is unlikely that a court would simply terminate the biological father’s rights and obligation to pay child support.  The court wants someone responsible for child support and the man’s desire to avoid that obligation is not grounds to terminate his parental rights.
