What should a person expect to transpire at a paternity hearing?
The purpose of this hearing to determine the parentage of the child, how much must be paid in child support, to establish health insurance coverage for the child and make orders regarding possession and access or visitation. If the paternity of the child has not been determined by genetic testing, the court will order it unless the parties agree voluntarily.
If paternity is not contested or has been done, proving that the man is the child’s biological father, the court will makes orders on child support, health insurance and possession and access.
