If the parents move or conceal the child to avoid the investigation, what are the legal consequences?
Such conduct may constitute interference with the investigation if the child is relocated without notifying the state of the new address. This is a Class B misdemeanor criminal offense. Failure to respond or willfully concealing the child if such action poses a risk to the child’s safety is considered interfering the investigation and the state may seek a court order to enjoin such conduct.
