How long will it take to get a hearing on An Application for A Protective Order?

The court must set a hearing no later than fourteen days after the Application is filed.  In counties with more than 1.5 million persons at the request of the prosecuting attorney or in a judicial district composed of more than one county, the court may set the hearing for no longer than twenty days after the date that the application is filed.  If the respondent is served with the application within forty-eight hours of the time set for the hearing, upon his request, the court will reset the hearing for no longer than fourteen days after the date set for the initial hearing.
